Lighthouse Diner & Clothing DepotEvery Thursday, The Clothing Depot (10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon) and the Lighthouse Diner Soup Kitchen (serving hot lunch at noon) are hosted by Lighthouse Ministries and Crystal Ridge Community Church at 241 Elmwood Avenue, Crystal Beach. Child's Play: A Century of Toys 1850s - 1950s Title: Child’s Play: A Century of Toys 1850s -1950sDate: January 21 to April 1, 2012Time: Weekdays 9:00am to 5:00pm, Weekends 11:00am to 4:00pmDescription: Child’s Play: A Century of Toys 1850s-1950s examines 100 years of toys, games and children’s pastimes. Visitors to this travelling exhibit from the Haldimand Museum can also relive moments of childhood fun with a floor-sized game of Snakes and Ladders or a toy box filled with vintage and reproduction dolls, games and other playthings.As they take in the exhibit, visitors will have the chance to write their own stories about the toys they enjoyed playing with while growing up. Other playful hands-on stations throughout the displays mean even more opportunities for museum-goers to recapture their youth and learn they’re never too old for child’s play. Cabin Fever: Winter in St. Catharines Special in-house exhibit featuring items from our Collections show how people in St. Catharines survived the often harsh winter conditions. Investigate an interactive Depression-era kitchen, showcasing an ACE metal ice box, a pantry filled with winter necessities and a 1924 Locomotive washer, as well as a 1970’s living room where they can tune into the 1971 Memorial Cup final hockey game on a 1965 RCA Victor “New Vista” television. Visitors may also build a snow fort and decorate a snowman.
